There are a number of buttons on the printer and if something is wrong, then it is indicated via lights on the Printer. However, most of the time people fail to realize what the light is for and if they don’t know the issue then they are obviously going to have a hard time fixing it as well. Different Symbols on HP Printer and their significance 

There are a number of light on the hp printer. Know what hp printer ink symbols mean if the lights blink.

1. Wireless Light 

Blinking of the wireless light indicates:

  • The printer is not able to find the wireless signal
  • It is taking time to configure a connection
  • The printer is having a hard time in connecting to the network

2. Attention Light 

If you are facing some error then it will be communicated to you via attention light. Apart from blinking when a two sided print job it sent, it also blinks when you are facing either of the below errors:

  • Out of paper 

If your printer is out of paper then you can try the following options:

Check the paper and reload a new one:

If the paper is damp, torn, or bent then use a new sheet. Also, make sure that the dimensions of the paper are compatible with the printer. Now you may align the edges of the paper sheet with the help of an even surface and insert it in the paper tray of the printer.

Check the Back Panel Cover of the Printer

It is quite possible that the back panel is not in order. If it is not closed properly then there might be jammed paper inside. If this is the case then take off the back panel entirely, clear the wrinkled paper and place the panel back on the printer.

Reset the Printer

Unplug the power cable directly without turning off the printer. Then wait for a while before plugging it back in the printer. In case the printer does not turn on automatically then try it by pressing its manual power button.

Dust the Rollers of the Printer

If dirt has gathered in its rollers then it can lead to paper feed issues as well. Hence, clean it if needed then turn off the printer and unplug its power source. Use a piece of lint-free cloth and fresh water to clean it. Once you are done with cleaning the printer’s rollers, leave it to dry for a while before putting it back. Once it is cleaned then you can plug back the power cable and turn on the printer.

  • Front Door Open 

If you are facing this error then you can try the following ways to fix it:

Check the cartridge door for barrier

Look at the door and the area around it to make sure that there is no obstruction in and around the door which would stop it from closing properly.

Remove the block and close the cartridge access door again and look for the error message on the control panel.

Restart the Print Spool Device

Try restarting it by following the below mentioned steps:

  1.  Switch off the printer
  2.  Open the control panel and go to Performance and Maintenance.
  3.  Open the Administrative Tools, select Print Spooler and right click on it
  4. Click Stop and then select ‘Start’ to restart the Print Spooler
  5. Click OK and restart your laptop and printer

  • Paper jam indication 

In order to fix it, you can do the following:

Clear the jam from outside

You can clear the jam from outside by cleaning

  1. Input and output trays- Where you insert the fresh sheet and the print out comes out
  2. ADF- Open it to clean any leftover sheet

Clear the jam from inside

Firstly turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source. Remove the jammed paper from the following areas:

  1.  Toner or ink cartridge area- Open the access door, move the carriage if and then eradicate any jammed paper.
  2.  Under the paper path
  3.  Input tray
  4.  Bottom clean out door
  5.  Rear access door

  • Paper size issue

  • Unauthorized toner/ drum

3. Attention and Toner supply light 

When attention light and toner supply light blinks together, it means that you are facing either of the below errors:

  • Drum or toner missing
  • Installation of HP protected toner or drum
  • Cartridge error
  • Incompatible toner or drum
  • Unauthorized drum or toner

4. Attention and ready lights 

When the attention and ready lights blink together then it means that you are facing a fatal error state.

5. All lights off 

When you see no lights on the control panel then it means that:

  • The printer is off
  • An issue with the power supply
